Adios, Lo de Marcos . . . and off we go!

OMG! I can't believe I have been so sorrowfully tardy with my blog (I'm pretending to be Anne Shirley - haha). My last post was just before the music night in Lo de Marcos. This was another fund raiser for the Amigos de Lo de Marcos - and what a night of music it was!

These three were fantastic!!!

. . . and then more jamming . . . just great!

If Arturo hadn't bought that 3rd bottle of wine . . . . ;(

... then the next fund raiser we attended a few days later was for the secundaria school (junior high) in Lo de Marcos. We had a wonderful Mexican buffet, put on by the parents of the students at the school, and then we enjoyed a night of entertainment from the students - they sang, they danced - it was fun!    Another evening spent with good food, entertainment and company!
Tamales, Chilis Rellano, spicy peppers, chicken tostada . . . yum, yum!

Lots of gringos in attendance

We are  counting  down the days until we begin our treck north.  The four couples who started this journey together back in November at Organ Pipe National Monument, headed for a day in Puerto Vallarta along the Malecon . . . touristy, but fun . . .

Here are some photos of the beautiful statues along the PV Malecon . . .

On February 22nd, it was time to leave and head north.

We left with our new friends from Saskatoon, Craig and Denise, and headed through San Blas to Teacapan (Villa Onac) . . . what a beautiful park right on the beach - and I mean right on the beach.

 Teacapan Sunset . . . .

Osa likes the sunset at Teacapan too!

We met up with some past friends there, who just happened to have friends for Kipper to play with.  Dick and Mary are from Colorado - and we we so happy to connect with them again.  They have a new dog, Lola the Labradoodle - and Lola and Kipper had a great time on the beach.

The area around Teacapan is very agricultural - huge fields of tomatoes and peppers.  The peppers are harvested, and then smoked - creating that Chipotle flavor that we have come to love - a very labor intensive farming and we see many field workers on the farms, and many "camps" in the area where they live.  It's also very flat here so I can't even imagine what might happen if a tsunami hit this area - there's no where to go to get to higher ground!

Next stop, Alamos  . . . .
